Hello, and welcome to the Acme Catalog! Here, we hope you will find quality items for your Medieval, Victorian, Steampunk, Fantasy, and other themed Sims 2 games. The Acme Catalog is the combined skills of CelestialSpider and rugrat0ne, and also hosts some of their selected individual projects, as well.

Since we first created our Acme Starter Kits – 4 complete Medieval wardrobes in one for various body shapes – we have found our brainstorming and project-planning snowballing beyond what we could have imagined. Our hope is that this blog will enable us to expand our creating beyond simply Medieval and Renaissance creations, while still being part of the Medieval Simming community.

We plan to continue hosting our Medieval and Victorian content at Plumb Bob Keep, where we met, but will also post it here. This blog will also host our work in other more fanciful realms. We will be using this blog in conjunction with a Simblr, but all downloads will be hosted here.

OUR POLICY – Our policy is simple: for the most part, do what you want with our creations, just give credit where credit is due – not just to us, but to the many creators that we borrowed from as well. NO paysites. We make no money off our creations, so no one else should either! NO NSFW Content We just don't like our items used that way, please. Link backs and notifications are always nice, but not required.

A faded Southern Belle alone on a street of worn and empty shops

Way back in July, Plumb Bob Keep hosted a Summer Secret Santa, and my Santee was someone who enjoys Southern Gothic style. I had never even heard of it, so I sat down and watched “A Streetcar Named Desire” and then got to work (don't worry, I did a bit more research than that). Milerelay said I hit the nail on the head, so I thought I'd share with all of you (with Milerelay's permission).

I have two build sets, a set of decorative signs, a few wallpapers, and some default replacements for the Open/Closed sign. The three sets are all repository sets, I've included the meshes, and I will also include some notes and resources if people want to make other recolors to go with it. There's at least one set of recolors where you may need to prune.

The ten colors of the Faded Elegance palette

I settled on 10 colors for the general vibe, I've named it my Faded Elegance palette and the majority of the items below are in that palette. No, I did not come up with the names, although I love “swamp teal.” Also, all the recolors (and the DRs and walls) are compressorized.

Bourbon St. Set

First up, we have recolors of the appropriately named “Bourbon St. Shuttered Windows and Doors” by Shakeshaft at TSR. I have done 10 “clean” or “new” recolors, and also 10 worn recolors, that have seen some time go by. There are 21 meshes in the original set, and they are repositoried to the Single Shutter Window mesh. There is a second set available at TSR without the shutters that will use these colors as well. Meshes for the shuttered set included, of course.

Bakery Build

Next, another large repositoried set, this one by Veranka, it's the “Bakery Build Set”. This also has 10 clean and 10 worn recolors, but it also comes with 10 window overlays with grease marker writing that you might see in a shop window. The majority of items are repositoried to the Bakery Build Master, and the window signs are recolored from the Window Poster 2 Tile mesh. All meshes included.

Victorian Shop Facades

If you were to go off the name of the set for these next ones, you might think I was way off base, but I know my town, at least, still has some of these style shop signs on Main St. This is another set from Shakeshaft, the “Victorian Shop Facade” set. 10 regular recolors, 10 worn recolors, and 60 shop name recolors, because I'm insane. No, there are 10 shop names, each one done in 6 different color combos, so that hopefully one should work for each of the various backgrounds. I have included all the sign meshes from this set, there's a link in the zip if you're curious about the rest.

Open/Closed Signs

Unfortunately, with this next set, you have to choose. There are 4 versions of a Default Replacement for the OFB Open/Closed Sign of War and Commerce for you. You can only use one at a time in your game, but hopefully they cover a range of store types.

Wallpapers

Finally, to properly cover all these new buildings, we have 10 recolors of my patented WeatherWorn™ Clapboard Siding. These didn't come out exactly the colors of the palette, but should harmonize nicely with those without everything looking the same.

Effulgent Skintone set

“What's another word for 'gleaming'? It's a perfectly perfect word as many words go but the bother is nothing rhymes, you see.”
(Bonus points to anyone who recognizes the quote.)

I wanted a skintone set that really covered a lot of bases, with a wide range of coloration, but I couldn't find one I liked, so I made one myself. “Effulgent” is a set of 60 skintones embracing a large spectrum of colorings with distinctive undertones.

Sims wearing various dresses from the set

The aim of the ACME Starter Kit project is to provide Simmers with full ready-to-go medieval wardrobes for a variety of bodyshapes, and several classes of Sim, as well as creating a bodyshape mesh library of some of the most common medieval outfits for folks to make their own conversions and recolors as they like.

This particular Starter Kit is designed for Ren Gal ver. 2, originally created by Warlokk and modified to version 2 by Cynnix. Our separate skintone upload has all necessary showerproof meshes, to allow your sim to hold their shape and to avoid floating heads in the shower.

We have created 4 full sets of clothing, Teen-Elder, with 5 recolors per outfit, using Shadowfell’s natural dye actions and some of our favorite outfits and meshes. There is also a brand-new mesh, the Short Chemise, that Spider has created just for these sets. These wardrobes should be suitable for peasants, merchants, nobles, and royalty, both in design and color (although we make no claim to historical accuracy). All outfits have fat and pregnancy morphs (even teens) and are enabled to be used as maternity wear, if you are using something like Boiling Oil’s Plan Maternity Outfit mod or a “Wear Any Outfit” mod.

To help with the bulk, we have also made a Maxis-size set of outfits for adults, and repositoried all other adult and teen outfits to them. This can bring a file size down from often as much as 1000 KB to just 4 KB (less after compressorizing).

You MUST have the base Maxis-size outfits for the rest of the sets to work.

The ACME Catalog proudly presents a brand new bodyshape: Lady Apple! Unlike her hourglass and pear-shaped counterparts, Lady Apple is modeled on those women who tend to carry their weight in the stomach area, adding a little more variety to the bodyshape world.

Lady Apple is available for Teen-Elders (elders keep adult shape), and has fat morphs for all and preg morphs for Adults and Teens. She has been added to the Bodyshape Organization Kit (BSOK) and her outfits will be marked with a little apple.

In this post we have included all the necessary meshes, in a Lady Apple female/Maxis male combo, as well as one un-repositoried skintone, so that you can clone it and make your own skintone versions if you wish. G-Knee has an easy tutorial for it here. You can find 4 full wardrobes for Lady Apple in the ACME Starter Kit, and the 4 repositoried skintones are available through ACME Insta-Skin.

A bottle of Acme Insta-Skin pills, and a Sim about to shower in a waterfall

Weary of Sims wearing only bones and muscle? Tired of your Sim changing shape every time they shower? Then ACME Insta-skin is for you!

Presenting showerproof sets of 4 skin tones, originally based on Needlecream’s edit of Enayla’s Opaline skin. They are paired with the Maxis size of the opposite gender, and have been colored to approximate the 4 basic Maxis skintones. Skins are barbie from the waist down, and do not have any meshed-on details. Skins are GENETICIZED (basic Maxis genetics – 0.1, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9) but are NOT townified.

The bodyshape skins are REPOSITORIED, meaning you'll need the Maxis originals for them to work, but they will save you a lot of space (around 1000 KB down to 100 KB).

We will be adding to this series as we create content for more bodyshapes, and hope to do combo skins in the future, as well. If you prefer your own sets of skintones and want to transfer them over to bodyshapes, there is a wonderful tutorial on how to do that written by G-Knee (it’s super simple!).

Finally, it’s here! A replacement for all those modern images that our Sims insist on talking about! A few easy files to drop in your download folder (and one harder one that’s totally optional), and you’ll be on your way to far more soothly speech amongst your medieval Sims.

All image files use clipart gleaned from the Internet that are free to use, and the text files are my own creation. One down note, they do get a bit blurry close-up, I don’t think there’s much I can do about that with what I have for images.

Of course, your Sims will still use the same animations while chatting, so you'll still have knights doing air guitar, unfortunately.

A big, big thanks to Sunni of PBK who worked with me on figuring this out!Read more... )

As promised, here are some more replacements for your various speech bubbles! This time up, we have Free Time hobbies, Apartment Life stories, and Pets interests. This, combined with the first set of replacements, should cover most of the speech bubbles that don’t require redoing the images for Wants and Fears and such.

Some of the images are reused from the first group of replacements, but most are new. I just had some failures of inspiration at times, so I doubled up. You guys don’t mind, though, do you?

To my eyes, at least, they do get a bit blurry close-up, I don’t think there’s much I can do about that with what I have for images. Hopefully, they go over better with a less critical audience!

After reading a WCIF thread at Plumb Bob Keep and seeing the mod made by CandyToast over at MATY, I decided to make my own version of this, one that actually works with Almighty Hat's book covers.

What is it? 45 Replacement images for the plot elements screen when your Sim is writing a novel. All these images come from public domain clip art I found here and there on the web, and have a medieval/fantasy theme.Read more... )

This is the keystone of our series of repository sets. This Starter Kit is for the regular Maxis/B-34 bodyshape, and you must have this set for any of the other sets to show their textures!
